What is The Hudson Valley Story?

The Hudson Valley story begins with founder David Litman, who knew from a young age how beautiful surroundings could positively impact everyday life. He and his mother had a love for antiques and the quality behind them, which inspired him to have an eye for beautifully designed and crafted lights.

However, lighting ran in the family even before David began Hudson Valley Lighting. His grandfather was greatly inspired by the introduction of fluorescent lighting to mainstream building industries at the New York World’s Fair and began to study lighting. David eventually had an apprenticeship in the lighting industry in his father’s commercial lighting factory, and although he attended college for a different major, he was drawn back to lighting and started his business: Hudson Valley Lighting.

Who are Hudson Valley Lighting’s Most Iconic Designers?

The Hudson Valley Lighting Group includes many talented designers who each have their own speciality. Mark D. Sikes hails from Los Angeles, California, and he mixes American and European design to create pieces fitting for the New Traditional Style. Designer Becki Owens also hails from California, but her designs lean into a lighter feminine style and modern boho. Finally, Kelley Behun has her own style that leans into contemporary artistry. These are only three of their designers, and through them, you can see Hudson Valley’s approach to bringing in experts and different designers to create unique lights.

Aside from their partnerships with those individuals, Hudson Valley Lighting also has partnerships with designers like Mitzi, Troy Lighting, and Corbett Lighting. These groups make up the Hudson Valley Lighting Group - a group that believes lighting can elevate spaces and enrich people’s lives through forward design.
